Covid-19 update
It’s normal to have concerns about attending classes during lockdown, but we’ve put many safety measures in place so you can keep progressing and learning. We also promote a supportive and friendly environment which is positive for your wellbeing and mental health.
We have an effective system in place for reporting positive Covid-19 tests; there is a dedicated team looking after this process who are always on hand to inform potentially impacted students and staff. If required, we collapse student bubbles for up to 14 days and instruct everyone in the bubble to self-isolate. When this happens, we continue to support students with their wellbeing too, so they are in a good position upon returning from isolation.
In line with government guidance, we will be transferring to online delivery from 9 December for the remaining week and a half of the autumn term. The reason for this is to allow students who are studying away from home to be able to return home for the Christmas holiday. Lectures will continue as planned and your course team will give you further details. The new term will start the week commencing 4 January where tuition will revert back to a blended learning approach as before the 9 December.
The Office for Students has produced guidelines for students which can be found here.
We will routinely review our delivery in line with the latest government guidelines to ensure that we continue to offer you a safe place to study.
We appreciate that some students may be feeling nervous about attending university during this time, however our health and safety measures have been working well to protect our students and staff. These measures include:
- Bubble systems in place. Each section of University Centre Leeds is divided into zones, with bubbles (groups of students) allocated to a zone of the college.
- Staggered start and finish times.
- Face coverings worn in communal areas.
- Any personal protective equipment that is risk assessed as being required is provided.
- Zones are cleaned before different bubble groups can use them.
- All campuses have one-way systems in operation.
If you have any concerns or questions about attending university during the lockdown, please contact your course team via email or hangouts.
