About the course
Increases in cyber crime pose a risk to people, organisations and governments and are a persistent global threat. Mitigating and combating threats such as the protection of software and hardware against malicious attacks requires the employment of skilled cyber security and digital forensics professionals.
This course will provide you with the technical and analytical skills in cyber security, such as Cyber Security Analyst or Security Consultant, that you will need to succeed in the cyber security sector, helping you to find work in this exciting fast paced and constantly evolving industry.
There is a strong emphasis on the practical skills required to gain employment in cyber security. As well as practical skills in computer forensics, and designing secure software systems you will also cover areas such as networks, operating systems including Linux and scripting, and ethical hacking and securing of networks where you will learn the social and practical techniques used to attack network infrastructure and the means to defend against them.
We will provide you with the technical skills and knowledge in identifying and fixing system vulnerabilities, data security and cryptography. You will also learn how to apply cyber security skills in practical situations drawing on your theoretical knowledge in the fight against the rising threat of cyber crime.
