We are celebrating after achieving grade ‘Good’ by Ofsted for our teacher training provision.
The report praised the organisation’s specialist teachers and mentors for the quality of the curriculum, which ensures that trainees meet the requirements and expectations of professional teachers.
Students who study on one of the many initial teacher education courses, successfully go on to secure full-time teaching positions.

Dr Sarah Marquez, Dean of University Centre Leeds, said: “We aim to provide a fully immersive teaching experience, by placing our trainee teachers in classroom environments within our education group, where they can gain the first-hand knowledge and skills they need to become successful teachers.”
“We are committed to raising the bar on the quality of education and training provided to trainee teachers and this grade is a testament to the hard work of our specialised teams and mentors who make their experiences and entry into this vocation worthwhile.”
The report also noted that trainees are well supported and developed as teachers across the group and understand how they can promote equality and inclusion through their work.
University Centre Leeds’ apprenticeship provision, was praised for preparing apprentices for their roles.
Eleanor Riordan, a Level 5 fashion and textiles teaching apprentice said: “I feel that having my own classes and responsibilities allowed me to fit into the job and learn the different processes of being a teacher.
“The apprenticeship has prepared me for my role and taught me a range of different skills and theories to support my teaching practice.”
