FD DANCE STUDENT TESTIMONY
What made you choose your course?
I wanted to develop my capability in acting by studying for the degree course at the college. I wanted to test my skills and heighten my abilities.
What did you enjoy most about studying at the University Centre at Leeds City College?
I get to work with various teachers and students, both at the University Centre and over at Park Lane Campus. I enjoy getting to know various students on other courses and having the chance to collaborate with them on projects.

What work experience did you complete whilst at college and what did you gain from these experiences?
We had several modules, including a facilitation one which helped us to run workshops with students younger than ourselves.
Where are you doing now?
I am still studying. I am in my third year, completing the BA (Hons) Top Up in Performance Practice. I am currently on a placement abroad, working with students in Catalonia to combine work. I have been leading several exercises and devised pieces. We also have two dancers over here, so it is all about collaborative work.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to work in your industry?
Work hard, turn up on time and do your best. Try to do a little bit every day, stay positive because you will eventually get there. Acting is a tough profession to get into, but if you are patient, kind, hard working and determined, you will find your way.
How do you apply the skills you learnt on the course in your job role?
I have learnt how to apply myself with improvisation; being in the moment; script-editing; stillness and working with other artists within the profession.
What advice would you give to someone who is unsure about what degree to choose/whether a degree is for them?
Be sure that further education is right for you and that it is going to help you in the future.
