EDUCATION STAFF PROFILE

Berni has been a tutor on various training courses for childcare professionals within the college. She was a nurse working in a variety of settings, as well as a childcare professional working with children and their families. Berni’s interests lie in family structures and the ‘middle child syndrome.’

Nikki Daly is a qualified teacher (PGCE) and has a First class Honours degree in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. Nikki has experience of teaching in FE across levels 2 & 3 in Childhood and Education studies at Leeds City College. Nikki has experience of supporting students in HE to develop their academic study skills, necessary for university level study in additional to teaching across Level 4 & 5. She has experience of working in nurseries, pre-schools and primary schools, specialising in working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Nikki is currently studying a Masters Degree in Education and is in her second year of study.

Vicki’s prior experience before working for the college include roles such as nursery management within a private day nursery and children’s fitness programmes within a variety of cities. Vicki’s interests lie in supporting and developing communication skills with others.

Biography: Amber started her working life in the NHS as a State Registered Biomedical Scientist, specialising in medical microbiology. She returned to education when her children started school and gained a BSc(Hons) from Leeds University and followed this with a PGCE in Further Education.

She has taught a variety of ages and subjects, which range from setting up and running science clubs at junior schools to teaching mathematics in prisons and teaching science on degree courses. She has been an assessor for public examinations for many years and had assessed for OCR, CIE and Edexcel in science and mathematics.

Amber is currently teaching mathematics in a Further Education College and is a Senior Assessor for OCR.She also teaches and assesses on Initial Teacher Education courses and has written several courses including the L3 Award in Mathematics for Numeracy Teaching at Leeds City College.

Susan is a mathematics specialist and a tutor on the FD Supporting Teaching and Learning course. Susan has taught for over 16 years within Further and Higher Education and her degree is in Child and Family Studies. Susan has worked within learning support and taught on a variety of teacher education courses including the Certificate for Learning Support.
