CILEx Professional Qualification (CPQ) - Foundation Stage

The CPQ ensures the appropriate progression and teaching of:

• How legal technology presents an opportunity to improve processes for customers and organisations
• How to evaluate and manage risk
• How to communicate effectively, with different stakeholders and in different settings
• Approaches to managing conflict, building relationships and working across boundaries
• The importance of exploring developments in the sector, responding to change and seeking continuous improvement

The CPQ is a single qualification made up of three elements:

• Assessment of legal knowledge and skills
• Ethics and Professional Responsibility eLearning modules
• Professional Experience

About the course

Each stage of the CPQ is aligned to a job role described in the CILEx Competency Framework.

The Foundation stage aligns to the role of a Paralegal/Case Handler. It allows the demonstration of the fundamental awareness of the law underpinning key practice areas. Those taking the Foundation Stage of the CPQ will be able to understand their professional and regulatory responsibilities, duties of working in a legal environment and make a positive contribution in a supporting role whilst under supervision.

The Foundation Stage has five mandatory modules which must be completed.
