The Level 5 Certificate in Education is available either as a full-time (one year) or part-time (two year) course, and is appropriate for the post-14 education and training sector. A degree is not required for entry onto this programme.
A minimum of 100 hours of relevant current group teaching over one year (for the full-time course) or over two years (for the part-time course) is required.
The course provides a conceptual and practical understanding of how to influence the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across multiple contexts in the post-14 sector.
You will develop the ability to utilise a range of skills relevant to teaching in the post-14 sector, as well as how to apply subject-specific practices to your own context, whilst using specialist approaches and tools in the assessment of learners.

You will be able to train to teach in any subject area, including Mathematics, English or SEN.
Bursaries are available for eligible applicants for the following subjects on a first come, first served basis:
Mathematics - £26,000 available per person
Science (including Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics) - £26,000 available per person
Engineering (and/or manufacturing) - £26,000 available per person
Computing - £26,000 available per person
SEN - £15,000 available per person
English - £12,000 available per person
